 Addiction and the Life of the Church: How Christians can think creatively\
 , clearly\, and hopefully about this challenging issue".\nWhat is addictio
 n? Why is it such a devastating problem in our time? What might the Christ
 ian story have to say about what addiction is and how it is healed? This w
 orkshop aims to engage the contemporary addictions crises through the lens
  of a Christian understanding of what it means to be a person. We will con
 sider foundational questions of the nature of addiction\, empowering Chris
 tians to think freshly about this challenging issue\, with courage\, creat
 ivity\, and hope. We will also discuss how Christian communities should ca
 re\, hope\, and pray for our family members and neighbors with addictions.
 \nPresenter: Dr. Quentin Genuis is an emergency physician and ethicist at
  St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver\, Canada. He serves as the physician e
 thicist for Providence Health Care\, and is a Sessional Faculty and the Pr
 ofessional in Residence at Regent College in Vancouver\, where he teaches 
 on topics including medical ethics and addiction.\nDate: Saturday\, Octobe
