Vision
Recognizing
that God is sovereign over Central Baptist Church and that planning
must always be done with prayer and humility, we
believe that God is calling us to this vision.
By 2013, through prayer, dependence on God and our required effort, we
will have become a healthy church of 750 people, in two diverse
morning services.
With 80% of our youth and adults participating in
growth groups that are primarily sermon based and with many teams
participating in “Glocal” mission projects, we will have
developed strong relationships and become effective followers of
Jesus Christ.
Through community participation, loving care and planned outreach,
we see God bringing people to faith in Christ as demonstrated by 5%
of our attendees baptized each year.
This vision is shaped
around six strategic directives.
1.
Take Jesus to Lost People
Our
first priority is to connect with people in order to proclaim the
gospel. We will seek to attract people to programs, events and
services, and we will also make an effort to go into our community
and world to connect with those who will not come on their own
initiative.
2. Make Reproducing Followers of
Jesus
Recognizing that
our mission is to make fully devoted followers, we will look to
sermon based growth groups as the primary way in which people are
trained as followers of Christ.
3. Serve Inside and Outside the
Church.
We
will look for opportunities to be active in our faith, with special
attention to participation in our local community and personal
involvement in global missions.
4. Participate in Heartfelt Worship.
Although
we recognize that all of life can be lived as worship, we will
create a weekly corporate worship environment, which will inspire
faith in the hearts of all who participate.
5. Connect in Caring Community.
We
will create a welcoming culture that provides opportunities for
people to form caring friendships.
6. Prepare for Growth.
Although
growth is ultimately a work of God, we know that we have a God given
duty to steward our resources, organize our leadership and direct
our planning so that we can disciple those whom God will trust into
our care.
