Dave Marttunen – Lead Pastor

Dave says that “Loving God and loving people is the focus of the Bible and Jesus makes this not only possible, but achievable!” He enjoys the opportunity and the challenge of leading a city church that he believes can influence Victoria and change the spiritual landscape of the city. Dave and his wife Donna’s international ministry have taken them to interesting corners of the world; 3 months in Pakistan, a year in South Africa, and weeks at a time in most of the places in which our Church association works. As parents of two grown daughters, Dave and Donna enjoy seeing families, friendships and relationships form in which faith can be discovered, explored and developed. They believe that the Church is God’s plan for our day and want to do all they can to make it thrive.

David Dawson – Associate Pastor

David has been Associate Pastor at Central since May 2006. Before then he worked at Courtenay Fellowship Baptist for 6 1⁄2 years. David has a BBA from SFU and an MDiv from Regent College. As Associate Pastor, David is involved in a variety of ministries from children to adults. He loves the opportunities to think creatively about ministry and his passion is to see lives transformed as people come into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. David has been married to Julia since 1996 and has two young boys, Andrew and Matthew. Outside of work, he enjoys playing games with family and friends as well as other activities like softball, hockey and tennis.

Byron Phillips – Minister to Youth

Byron has worked at Central since June 1999. He has a BA in Music (voice major) and an MDiv with a focus on youth and family ministry. Byron loves working with great staff and volunteers at Central in shaping lives for Christ. His passion is to see people living as true Christ followers who desire to grow in their relationship with Christ and demonstrate Christ’s love to others. Byron has been married to Jodi for 12 years and has two young children, Caleb and Bekah. Outside of work, he loves doing fun things with his family, such as swimming, skating, skiing, biking, going to the park or beach, or playing a game. He also spends time hanging out with his friends playing sports (ice hockey, basketball, softball, and tennis) and games (Settlers of Catan, cities and knights, Carcassone, etc.)

Kevin Thiessen – Pastor of Missions & Outreach

New to Central as of July 2010, Kevin recently completed a Masters of Leadership degree from Briercrest Seminary. Before returning to Canada to further his education, Kevin spent 4 years in Dublin, Ireland, as a youth pastor as well as aiding the ministry of Athletes in Action Ireland. Kevin has been actively involved in youth and sports ministry both at home and abroad over the last 15 years, and has developed a passion for training and equipping men and women for leadership and practical missional living in their daily lives. As Pastor of Missions & Outreach, his goal is to inspire, equip, and mobilize men and women to serve God and share the love of Christ, making the most of every opportunity both locally and abroad. Kevin has been married to Cristy for 7 years and has three children: 3-year old twin boys, Bo and Ben, and 3 month old daughter, Caia.

Mike Millard – Pastor of Senior Adults

Mike joined the staff at Central in November 2009. Equipped with 29 years of life experience with National Defence, seminary training, and 20 years of pastoral experience with Fellowship Baptist Churches, Mike's role at Central is to lead middle age adults in outreach and discipleship. His passion is to help others experience the life-changing love of God in Christ. Mike has been married to Judi for 43 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. Outside of work, Mike enjoys family, golf, and fly-fishing.
